Jackpots and Jealousies in Las Vegas: A Humorous Tiffany Black Mystery By A.R. Winters

Jackpots and Jealousies in Las Vegas: A Humorous Tiffany Black Mystery cover
Jackpots and Jealousies in Las Vegas: A Humorous Tiffany Black Mystery

Publisher Description

A Cupcakes-And-Crime Caper

Roger Owen’s business isn’t doing well, and when he takes his wife and son to glitzy, glamourous Las Vegas for some quality family vacation time, he brings along a surprising +1: his mistress!

“Winters will have you giggling into your book!”
Life seems to pick up for Roger when he wins a huge jackpot… until someone gleefully kills him on the casino floor.

Caught in the hot seat as suspect number one, Roger’s wife Wendy hires Tiffany and Ian to clear her name and to solve the mystery of who really killed Roger Owen—even though it may very well be black widow Wendy!

Or was it his mistress, Mona, come to exact revenge for playing second fiddle so many years? Was it his son, Aaron, tired of his dad’s philandering and ready to inherit those big bucks? Could it have been Roger’s business partner, eager to take over the company and purge it of potential scandals?

Fingers fly in every direction with blame and accusation, and it’s up to Tiffany and Ian—with some assistance from little Snowflake and Nanna, of course—to unravel the tangled webs and shed some light on the truth.

Jackpots And Jealousies in Las Vegas is the fourteenth book in The Tiffany Black in Las Vegas Mystery Series. It can be read as a standalone, but the Tiffany Black books are best enjoyed when read in series order.

This is a cozy mystery featuring a strong female protagonist, some unusual friends and family, and a mystery that needs solving! It has no graphic gore, bad language, or sex.

Praise for A.R. Winters:

“You fall in love with Tiffany Black from the start, and the mystery starts immediately” - Melissa Greenberg, Amazon.com Top 500 Reviewer

Love, Cutter By Michelle Jester #Book Tour #Hosted Giveaway

Love, Cutter
Michelle Jester
Publication date: August 28th 2018
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult
After an attempted suicide Carter finds himself in a coma. He is able to hear the world around him, yet he can’t move. What he hears propels Carter to begin to see life in a new way, especially when one of his nurses, Kinley, shares parts of her tragic past with him. Soon, Carter realizes he is falling in love with her.
Months after being transferred from the hospital, to a rehabilitation facility, he suddenly wakes up with a passion to live that he never had before and a determination to find the one person he feels may be able to help him put the pieces of his life together again. However, when he returns to the hospital, Kinley is gone and Carter must try to find her based solely on the things she shared with him while he was in a coma.
Only, nothing is as it seems and Carter learns the biggest lesson of them all… the differences between expectation, perception, and reality.

The dream was vivid. Kinley was standing there, her beautiful, long honey blonde hair whipping in the wind. The sun was rising over her shoulder, which caused her to have a halo around her. She smiled, and the sun seemed to be all around her at once. He couldn’t see her face clearly, but he could feel her beauty none the less. She was perfect.

Then, as she took a step toward him, she started to morph into a bunch of tiny burgers.

Burgers? Wait, what?

That was enough to bring Carter to consciousness again.

Carter thought he must still be dreaming, because the sun was so bright. Kinley wasn’t there anymore, only the sun. He thought it was weird that the sun was stuck to a plate. Then Carter quickly realized with incredible vividness that it was a ceiling.

A ceiling.

Carter closed his eyes. He slightly cracked them and light flooded in. He immediately closed them again. After repeating a thousand times or so, he tried to lift an arm, which seemed to weigh a ton. He couldn’t tell if he was lifting it or not, but he didn’t think so.

Crashing into the room, basically yelling into his phone was his least favorite person. “Where are you? How can you not be here before me? We work at the same place and I stopped for gas Claire!” Wayne huffed into the phone, “I do not want to sit-” Wayne stopped abruptly, “Claire, Claire! Let me call you back!”

Can he see me? Thank God! Wayne, Wayne, go get someone.

“Oh? Hell, no! If she sees your eyes open and close like that she’ll be convinced you are going to wake up and set up camp outside the room.” Carter could barely see a shadow looming over him through the slits in his eyes, “You haven’t put the family through enough there, Carter, die already.” Carter heard the tones of Wayne’s phone, “Yeah, sorry I was rude. They have to take him to PT. No need in coming tonight. I’ll meet you at your parents. I know, I know, but it wasn’t my call. You know doctors; they can switch things up on you anytime they want. See you there, Sweetie.”

Continually throughout the night, Carter tried to open and close his eyes until he actually felt tired and drifted off to sleep.

“Good morning. I have a surprise!” his mother’s cheerful voice sounded similar to a twinkling wind chime.

I have one, too.

“I found that book Kinley was always reading to you. I couldn’t remember the name, but I surely remembered the cover and… and… Carter?” His mother’s shadow appearing over him was enough to cause him to shed a tear through his partially opened eye.

As you might imagine, this means she’s free to interfere in how I run the business that used to be hers. She’s trying to teach me to knit and it’s not going well. She’s also trying to teach me how to be a witch, since it turns out I’m from a long line of witches. Broken Arrow By Azaria M.J. Durant #Book Tour #Hosted Giveaway

Broken Arrow
Azaria M.J. Durant
(Darkened Destiny Saga #1)
Publication date: July 29th 2018
Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult

An ancient power long kept dormant stirs in the shadows once more as one boy embarks on a quest to earn his freedom and the freedom of his world!

Magic has turned to myth, the Vaelhyreans of old to legend, and the power wielded by the ancients has long been forgotten. However, with Ealdred, a mere half-breed slave boy, myth becomes real, the forgotten remembered, and the power of legend is reborn within him.

Ealdred is merged into a world of mystery, brimming with deceit, where the remaining Vaelhyreans are in a desperate fight for their very survival. When Ealdred is kidnapped by the power-mongering dark lord Zeldek himself, he must make a choice; to commit his newfound magic to Zeldek’s service or die. But when he meets Bellator, clever yet treacherous servant of Zeldek, an alternative is presented to him: to escape from Zeldek’s stronghold and embark on a quest to find a cursed arrow and free the Vaelhyreans from the spell that keeps their powers at bay.

Yet how can he survive in a world where magic is illegal, half-breeds are hated, and the four countries are on the brink of war?

Suddenly, a smaller dark figure drops lightly onto the balcony, stooping quickly to its hands and knees.  It stays that way for a moment, and then rises slowly and silently to its feet. Even though the figure is blurred by the glass in the door, I know who it is.

Bellator pushes the doors softly open, and tiptoes into the room.  Her helmet is on her head now, and she is fully armed with her bow and a quiver of arrows at one side, a belt of daggers around her waist, and a sword at her other side.

She stops short when she sees me and puts up her hands in mock surprise.  “Whoa! Easy there, half-breed. I thought you were asleep!”

“Would you prefer that I was?” I demand coldly.  “Perhaps so you can more easily kill me?”

She clicks her tongue, wagging a finger at me.  “Someone’s a little cranky. Didn’t get much sleep last night, did we?”

My irritation grows.  “What are you doing here?”

“Oh dear. You don’t look too good at all. Were you up all night?”

I point my dagger at her.  “Answer my question!”

The corner of her mouth turns up in a smirk. “Were you frightened?”

“You would be too if you had to worry about someone coming in and trying to kill you while you slept.”

“That’s why no one knows where I sleep.”  She wipes her bangs under the rim of her helmet.  They are damp with perspiration and a thick strand sticks to her forehead.  “Put the knife away and come with me.”

I eye her with suspicion.  “Where do you plan to take me?”

“I think you’ll like it.  If you’re brave, that is.”

I hesitate. “You’re not going to try to kill me again, are you?”

She snorts, but doesn’t make any promises.  “Come on! Fyra is waiting outside.”

“Fyra?” I repeat, casting a nervous glance into the sky.

“Fyra, my dragon.”

I slide my knife into my belt, not feeling very encouraged. But I keep my hand close to the hilt in case she tries anything.

Bellator goes back to the balcony and steps up onto the parapet, spreading out her arms to both sides like a bird in flight. Glancing over her shoulder, she beckons for me to follow. I approach warily and look up at the sky.  The dark shape of her dragon is nowhere in sight.

“Follow me!” she cries, and dives over the edge.

My stomach drops with her, and a shocked cry escapes my throat.  I throw myself to the railing and look down. Her body is plummeting toward the sharp rocks at the foot of the tower, stretched out like a leaf in the wind.  I expect at any second to see her crash into the cliff side, and fall forever into the depths below. But then a black form almost too swift for the eye to behold shoots past me and is beneath her in an instant.  It opens its wings, stopping itself mid-dive, and she lands on its back, unharmed. She leans forward, resting a hand on the beast’s head, and they sweep around as smoothly as if Bellator were just another extension of the dragon’s body.

“Your turn!” she calls as they begin their ascent back toward me.

I must be a fool for even considering this.

And yet I find myself climbing up onto the railing.  My knees wobble and I fling out my arms to catch my balance.  The rocks below seem to sharpen their teeth and the water opens its foaming mouth to receive me.  I am well aware this is probably a trick on Bellator’s part, trying to get me to commit suicide, or something equally as cruel.  But a small voice within urges me to jump anyways.

As though she hears my inner voice, Bellator shouts, “Jump!” as the dragon soars past me.

I look down again, and the small voice grows still quieter.  I’m not an imbecile. And yet I long to be able to jump like that.  To feel like I am flying for even a brief moment. To grasp that kind of freedom.  The thought exhilarates me.

Besides, Bellator was right. There are things worse than death, and serving Zeldek is one of them.

I take a deep breath and let myself fall forward.

Crazy Scottish Love By Jessie Donovan #Book Tour #Hosted Giveaway

Crazy Scottish Love
Jessie Donovan
(Love in Scotland, #1)
Publication date: October 15th 2018
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Romance

Tired of the online dating scene and her nagging mother, Donella Spencer braves her eccentric extended family and heads for a month-long visit to Scotland to stay with them. As long as she keeps to herself and avoids her family as much as possible, it should be easy to relax, right?

What she doesn’t count on is running into Robbie Campbell, the guy who tried so hard to ditch her nearly twenty years ago that it took a search and rescue team to save her. Not only that, she doesn’t expect to fall for Robbie’s daughter’s big, brown eyes and agree to hold a themed costume party for Donella’s 31st birthday. One that involves her relatives dressing in nineteenth century safari garb and dusty, old animal outfits.

And none of that even begins to address her grandmother’s attempts to matchmake and marry off Donella within the month.

It’s going to be one long, trying summer in Scotland. However, sometimes the strangest situations can show what someone needs in life. Because if Donella falls in love with a man who can put up with her family, she may finally have her happy ending in sight.

Provided her relatives don’t drive her crazy first.

However, the peaceful sound of the wind and seagulls as Donella enjoyed the enchanting sight didn’t last. Something smacked her on the side of the head. She lost her balance and fell on her ass.

After a string of profanities that would no doubt earn her a scolding later on, Donella slowly sat up and touched the side of her head. Looking at her fingers, there wasn’t any blood.

A Scottish male voice she didn’t recognize shouted, “Are you all right?”

Donella looked in the direction of the sound. A tall guy with short, reddish-brown hair rushed toward her.

Before she could do more than open her mouth, a large black and white dog dashed past the man and stopped in front of her. He promptly put his nose to her privates.

He bumped and sniffed around, reminding her why she preferred cats. Sure, both sniffed butts, but at least with cats they sniffed other cats and left her lower body well enough alone.

The dog rose its head, a bright green ball in its mouth. The dog dashed back toward the man and dropped it at his feet.

She’d found her attacker. “Is that how you always welcome tourists to the island? By pelting them with hard balls and knocking them on their butts?”

The corner of the man’s ticked up. “Well, to be fair, only a tourist would be dressed like that. So you would be an easy target for anyone who was out to find them.”

She wasn’t embarrassed about her yoga pants and T-shirt. A combined thirteen-hour plane ride wasn’t meant to be a fashion show. “I’ll make sure to mention how the locals hit tourists and insult their attire on my online review.”

He shrugged a shoulder. “I doubt you’ll do so. After all, it would affect everyone on the island, and I don’t think you’d want that.”

Before she could ask how he knew she wouldn’t, a little girl of about six or seven peeked her brown-haired head out from behind the guy and stepped to the side, holding one of those ball-tossing things dog owners liked to use. She glanced up at the man. “Should I say sorry? I didn’t mean to hit her.”

Donella suddenly felt like an ass. She wasn’t the best person with kids, but from her own childhood, she knew full well how mini-disasters could happen without warning.

The man placed a hand on the little girl’s shoulder. “I’d apologize to Donnie now or you’ll have to face old Mrs. Spencer later.”

The girl’s eyes widened, but Donella focused on the man’s revelations. “How do you know who I am?”

“Putting aside how your gran’s been going on about your visit for weeks, this isn’t the first time we’ve met.” He bowed his head. “Robbie Campbell, at your service.”

A memory from twenty years ago, of her being stranded on a tiny slip of land with water on one side and a small cliff behind her, came rushing back. She pointed a finger. “You. You’re the reason the police and fire brigade had to rig a harness and rescue me.”

He put up a hand. “Don’t blame me. You were the annoying ten-year-old following me around all summer. Everyone around here with good sense knows not to go out there when the tide’s about to come in.”

Donella narrowed her eyes. “Local knowledge that relies on ‘good sense’ only works if you live here. You should’ve known that and warned me.”

Again, he shrugged one shoulder. “I was almost thirteen and assumed I was king of the world at that point. Besides, an American always on my heels was a nuisance. My mates teased nonstop and I wanted it to end. Stranding you during high tide did the trick.”

She growled. “I could’ve drowned.”

“But you didn’t. Who do you think called the authorities to rescue you?”

Donella searched her mind for a good come back. They never came when she needed one.

Before she could even sputter something halfway witty, the little girl asked, “Why are you angry at my daddy?”
